About “Child of the 60’s”
This song was written as an anthem for the more spirited half of my generation. Many of
my friends and family will recognize something of themselves in it, though not everyone
lived that life or saw it in the same way.
The phrase “sex, drugs, and rock and roll” came to describe a counterculture centered
on peace, love, freedom, and creative self-expression. Those values shaped the early
years of many young people in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
I was only sixteen at the time, and my own life did not fully follow that path. Still, the
essence of it has stayed with me. I was a flower child in 1969, and that moment in history
left a lasting mark.
Track 7: Child of the 60’s – drums: Dave Schoepke, bass and guitar: Matt Miller, lead guitar:

I am a Child of the 60’s I'm getting old and gray
There were times when I was young
I never thought I'd still be alive today
Now I see my generation fading away
I was a flower child way back in 1969
I did not make it to Woodstock
But I sure was trying
Hell I was 16 years old and the world was mine
But I'm still rocking only in a chair now
I'm still rolling I do it all the time
I may seem old to you but I'm not dead yet
And I plan to rock on ‘til the day I die
I started rocking and a rolling when I was sweet 16
Sex, drugs, rock 'n roll, if you know what I mean
I was picking flowers and playing
My Green Tambourine
Now I've forgotten more things than some of you may ever know
Did I mention I've forgotten more things than some of you may ever know?
One thing I won't forget
Is how to rock and roll
I'm still rocking only in a chair now
I'm still rolling I do it all the time
I may seem old to you but I'm not dead yet
And I plan to rock on ‘til the day I die
Yeah, I'm still rocking only in a chair now
I'm still rolling I do it all the time
I may seem old to you but I'm not dead yet
And I plan to rock on ‘til the day I die
‘Til the day I die
