About “Just One of the Broken Hearted”
I wrote this song for someone dear to me who lost his wife after nearly thirty years
of marriage. They were very close, and although her death was not unexpected
(she had cancer) it was still devastating.
This song reflects the suddenness of loss and the thoughts that surface when
someone we love is gone. We wonder where they go. We want to believe in a
soul so that grief does not feel final. In faith and love, we gather together to
comfort one another when death comes in a single moment of time.
Track 2: Just One of the Broken Hearted – string and winds arrangement, bass, and
guitar: Matt Miller, acoustic guitar and vocals: Pauline Trabert

Alone again
Isn’t this the way I started
Without a friend
Alone again
Isn’t this the way I started
Without a friend
Just One of the Broken Hearted
In a single moment of time
A life can begin or end
While the rest of us gather behind
Comforting the next of kin
Where do they go
When our loved ones leave
I want to believe in a soul
That there’s no reason to grieve
Reason says there’s just one chance
To live our lives as we choose
Faith says there’s an eternal dance
And if you truly believe you will never lose
Where do they go
When our loved ones leave
I want to believe in a soul
That there’s no reason to grieve
In a single moment of time
A life can begin or end
While the rest of us gather behind
Comforting the next of kin
Alone again
Isn’t this the way I started
Without a friend
Just One of the Broken Hearted
Just One of the Broken Hearted
Just One of the Broken Hearted
