About “Bring Me Some Joy”
Sometimes you simply want someone to give you a little space, to step back for a
moment and allow some peace and quiet. That feeling became the starting point
for this song.
As I thought more about it, other layers emerged. There are times when a
partner’s attention drifts – to another pursuit, another distraction, or another
person; and that lack of respect can be deeply hurtful. This song reflects those
tensions, along with a sense of reciprocity: the desire to be seen, valued, and
treated with care.
In my own life, I don’t need much; just a few moments of joy now and then. In our
forty-five-year relationship, my husband and I have rarely wanted to be apart for
long. Even brief separations have always made reunions sweeter.

Everybody brings joy to someone’s heart
Some when they arrive some when they depart
Baby why don’t you go, Bring Me Some Joy
Everybody needs time to call their own
Everybody needs a place they call home
Baby why don’t you go, Bring Me Some Joy
Bring Me Some Joy baby and I will guarantee
You will enjoy the change baby in you and me
Every boy wants another toy every girl wants another boy
Baby why don’t you go, Bring Me Some Joy
Now baby I want to let you down easy, let you down slow
We’ve been together for many years but now it’s time to go
And everybody brings joy to someone’s heart
Some when they arrive some when they depart
Baby why don’t you go, Bring Me Some Joy
Everybody needs time to call their own
Everybody needs a place they call home
Baby why don’t you go, Bring Me Some Joy
Bring me some joy baby, I will guarantee
You will enjoy the change baby in you and me
Every boy has a roving eye every girl wants another guy
Baby why don’t you go, Bring Me Some Joy
Every boy has a roving eye every girl wants another guy
Baby why don’t you go, Bring Me Some Joy
Baby why don’t you go and Bring Me Some Joy
Baby why don’t you go and Bring Me Some Joy
