About “Just Go to Hell”
This song grew out of a moment of frustration during a misunderstanding with my
husband. I took what I was feeling and expanded it into a larger story. I imagined
that nothing I said or did made any difference to the situation. I felt unseen and
unheard, and the future seemed uncertain in this vision. The song captures that
emotional intensity rather than a literal moment. It’s an exaggerated version of a
feeling many people recognize, and one that eventually passed, but it made for a
powerful song.

You say you love me, you say you care
But baby, you’re never there when I need you
Sometimes I ache for you, I wish I could break through
Your wall of disdain for me and you
I’d like to engage you, enrage you
Help you break out of your cage
I want to move you in any direction
Just to see if you have any feelings I can relate to
I’m wasting my time here with you
Doesn’t matter what I say or what I do
Are you listening now, how can I tell?
I wish you would Just Go to Hell
You are a man of stone you’re gonna end up all alone
If only you could give me something to hope for
Give me any reason to stay and I’ll be okay for a while
‘Til the next time I get leaving on my mind
And I’d like to engage you, enrage you
Help you break out of your cage
I want to move you in any direction
Just to see if you have any feelings I can relate to
I’m wasting my time here with you
Doesn’t matter what I say or what I do
Are you listening now, how can I tell?
I wish you would Just Go to Hell
I’m wasting my time here with you
It doesn’t matter what I say or what I do
Are you listening now, how can I tell?
I wish you would Just Go to Hell
Just go to hell
