Sunday, March 30th was my birthday (and Eric Clapton's although he is 8 years older) and it was a really good one. I spent several hours at The New Berlin Conservatory of Music in the studio recording the last three final vocal tracks for the new album.
Now my main work on the album is basically done. Unless I hear a need for more work on any of the vocal tracks, I will not be adding more vocals. My guitar work is basically done, too. There are some songs where I might add another layer of guitar but that is not yet planned.
The next steps call for other artists to come in and add their talents to the songs. Dennis Flink will be joining me again with his sweet guitar playing. He comes up with magical riffs and harmonies that really fit my songs. Matt Miller, my producer, will be playing bass on a few songs. He may add other instruments to other songs as well. He is a very talented musician and recording engineer. There will be a drummer on three or four songs, harmonica on one or two songs, and cello on one song. There may even be a trumpet on one song. We'll have to wait and see.
There is no huge rush to complete this project but I expect it will be ready to send to CD Baby by summer. They did a great job on my first album and they have a great deal for publishing on streaming services. I still have some CD's available if anyone is interested in getting a copy. It comes with a lyrics booklet that has stories about how the songs came to be written as well as the lyrics for each song on the album. I'll have a similar booklet for the new album. It's fun to make and people have said they really appreciate having the lyrics in front of them while they listen to the songs. All songs from “Worth Giving”, my first album, are online at: https://paulinetrabert.com/my-original-music. You can purchase a digital download or CD at that URL.
Oh, by the way, the problem Matt was experiencing last weekend when trying to record, turned out to be a hard drive crash. He had to work all week to set up a new system and install everything he had backed up. It was a big headache for Matt but he was persistent and got everything up and running. It's different now, but it works. Kind of like old age. LOL!
More updates as they happen. Thanks for reading.
